This exceptional Florida Buttonwood is a collected yamadori specimen originating from the Florida Keys, where it was collected four years ago. Although its exact age cannot be determined due to its wild origins, it is estimated to be well over 35 years old.
The tree showcases remarkable character through its beautifully aged, deeply textured bark, dramatic natural deadwood, and striking live vein that runs along the trunk. Its sweeping movement and rugged appearance reflect the harsh coastal conditions in which it originally developed.
Recently treated with two additional coats of lime sulfur, the preserved deadwood displays a beautiful, pale finish that contrasts dramatically with the darker living bark. This interplay between living wood and deadwood gives the tree a powerful sense of age and resilience.
Since collection, this Buttonwood has undergone its initial styling and has been rewired three times to establish and refine its branch structure. Its developing canopy features attractive green foliage and well-positioned branches, creating a balanced composition while leaving excellent potential for continued refinement.
Presented in a rectangular bonsai pot, this one of a kind Florida Yamadori combines natural coastal character, ancient-looking bark, dramatic deadwood, and years of careful development. A beautiful unique addition to any bonsai collection.
