This one of a kind Tiger Bark Ficus was originally imported from China as raw stock. The tree originally stood approximately 18 inches tall before it was cut back significantly to create a more compact and distinctive Shohin bonsai.
After the initial structural wiring, the tree was allowed to grow freely and develop new growth through back budding. Once it was ready for refinement, Alex Mendoza restyled and repotted it. The design features a beautiful connecting shari along the upper trunk that leads into a jin peeking through the canopy.
The tree is presented in a beautiful 7.5 inch blue glazed oval bonsai pot that complements its compact design.
