This mature Willowleaf Ficus features powerful roots that cling tightly to the rock, following its contours before spreading into the soil. The exposed roots and stone create a striking composition with visual interest from every angle. Textured bark, flowing trunk movement, and a broad canopy of slender green leaves give the tree the presence of an old tree growing over a rocky outcrop.
Originally styled by Jesús Brito, a nationally recognized bonsai artist and Best Tropical award recipient at the U.S. National Bonsai Exhibition, this specimen has a distinguished styling history. Since joining the Bonsai Lex collection, it has undergone two additional rounds of wiring and continued refinement by Alex Mendoza, further developing its structure and silhouette.
A warm brown round ceramic pot complements the bark and stone, grounding the composition while highlighting its dramatic roots. Vigorous and fast growing, this Willowleaf Ficus offers a mature bonsai to enjoy today with opportunities for continued refinement. Exhibit and show ready, it would make a striking centerpiece in a tropical bonsai collection.
